By continuously monitoring a machine’s condition, ­unforeseen problems can be identified and addressed. Vibration analysis protects machine components, tools and workpieces during machining against costly consequential damage and avoids scrap.

ifm’s multiplex vibration monitor provides specific vibration analysis on components inside a machine such as rolling element bearings, rotational unbalances, and gear drives.

The system consists of a cabinet-mount diagnostic module, model VSE, and multiple compact accelerometers that are mounted permanently on the equipment.

The condition of the equipment is continually monitored and evaluated for any changes in the operating parameters. Time and frequency domain data is locally processed for triggering of the integrated programmable analog and digital outputs, or for transmission to SCADA systems via the integrated Ethernet communication port.

ifm's new RFID DTE identification system tracks, controls and improves the quality of products throughout the automation process. ifm’s DTE RFID solution offers an easy and cost effective way to implement RFID.

Widely used in conveying, mold/die management and pallet tracking, the DTE system is capable of reading and writing data at high speeds and can connect to all common plc’s and industrial bus systems.

RFID system features include:

CARLO GAVAZZI has launched a new line of modular monitoring systems for energy management. VMU-C EM is a data logger system for small to medium projects, VMUC-Y EM is a hardware data aggregator for medium to larger projects and Em2 Server is a software solution for large projects. They are designed to complement the extensive line of Carlo Gavazzi energy maters and current transformers.

The VMU-C EM is a combination of hardware modules, whose primary function is to collect data from a network of energy meters and environmental sensors and then make this data available to end users utilizing industry standard methods, such as integrated web server, FTP, HTTP and Modbus/TCP data transfers. In addition to data management, the VMU-C EM platform can provide a relay output, SMS or email alarms and scalable pulse rate inputs. The VMU-C EM can function as a standalone data logging solution for applications with up to 32 meters or as a data gateway for larger installations.

The VMU-Y EM is a data aggregator that is built upon the VMU-C EM hardware platform, with a primary function of aggregating data from a network of VMU-C EM data loggers in applications where support for more than 32 energy meters is required. The VMU-Y EM relies on VMU-C EM data loggers to collect the data from energy meters and environmental sensors, but it is also responsible for the management of collected data and web server function. Up to 10 VMU-C EM / 320 meters can be managed by single VMU-Y EM.

The Em2 Server is a software solution provided as a Virtual Machine software appliance to be hosted either in a customer’s facility or remote server. Similar to the VMU-Y EM, the Em2 Server relies on the VMU-C EM for communication with energy meters. It aggregates data in large applications with up to 100 VMU-C EM loggers / 3,200 energy meters and provides web server function.

CARLO GAVAZZI is pleased to announce a new range of compact ultrasonic sensors, available in M18 housings constructed of thermoplastic (UA18CSD Series) and stainless steel (UA18ESD Series). Despite their compact 53 to 61mm overall housing length, these new sensors provide long sensing distances up to 800mm.

They provide an excellent cost/performance ratio for OEMs in a variety of markets, including Wood, Material Handling, Food & Beverage, HVAC, Packaging, Plastic & Rubber, Agriculture, Glass & Ceramics and Automotive.

Both digital output and analog output versions are available. Digital NPN or PNP versions can be either NO or NC, and support two different set-points, providing a detection “window.” The analog output versions include 4-20mA or 0-10VDC, with positive or negative slope. A simple “teach-by-wire” function provides an easy means to set up the sensor parameters. Standard connection options include either a two meter PVC cable or M12 connector.

All UA18CSD and UA18ESD sensors are IP67 rated, have cULus UL508 approval, and can be operated with 10 to 30VDC. The UA18CSD and UA18ESD compact sensors are a perfect complement to Carlo Gavazzi’s broad line of ultrasonic sensors in M12, M18, and M30 housings, with sensing distances up to 6 meters.
