Fast Track Switching

Fast Track Switching, the innovative switching technology, is now even more versatile thanks to a wealth of management functions. HARTING will be presenting its new series devices in a managed version at this year's Hannover Messe. This means: Determinism and availability, combined with redundancy, reliability, diagnosis and much more.

The FTS method recognizes, prioritizes and accelerates precisely those frames that are particularly important for the user in the specific application. It is easy to set the switch up for the identification characteristics within these frames. This allows the switch to recognize important frames, which are then accelerated by way of the cut-through method, allowing them to overtake other frames blocking their path. As a result, important data always reach their destination on time, regardless of the remaining network load.

As fully-managed switches, the devices offer all the functions expected from a modern switch: redundancy capability, VLANs, DHCP, etc. The integrated PROFINET IO stack furthermore allows the devices to be used and integrated as Conformance Class B equipment in the PROFINET area. But EtherNet/IP applications are also optimally supported with IGMP snooping and DHCP Option 82.

The product family has gained two new members: The Ha-VIS FTS 3100-A, equipped with 10 RJ45 ports, and the Ha-VIS FTS 3082-ASFP, equipped with 8 RJ45 ports plus 2 SFP slots. And the family continues to grow: In addition to the two series devices mentioned above, the Ha-VIS FTS 3060-A prototype, with 6 RJ45 ports in an especially slim design, will also be on view in Hannover. The combination of FTS technology and extensive management functions allows a very wide range of applications to be implemented with completely new possibilities. Your application is sure to be included!
